Attendance Policy

H. GUY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL POLICIES

ARRIVAL: Students should not arrive at school before 8:15 a.m. Students are to wait outside until the first bell rings unless coming in to eat breakfast. Students who arrive late should check in at the office. Students not in their classrooms by 8:40 am will be considered tardy unless they are excused by a parent or guardian. Students arriving to school after 9:00 am will be required to check in with a parent excuse at the office.

ATTENDANCE: Students should attend daily unless ill or an emergency arises. Excessive absences or tardies may result in legal action. (Utah's Compulsory Attendance Law mandates attendance) A successful school experience is the responsibility of the child, the parents, and the school. There is a correlation between your child's progress, both academic and social, and his or her participation at school. If a student is ill or an emergency arises, parents should call the school to report the absence.

CHECKOUT: If your child needs to leave school during the day, you must come to the main office first and check your child out. For your child's safety, the teacher will not release a child to anyone who has not signed him/her out at the office. Office personnel will not release a child to anyone not listed on the card filed in the office, unless we are notified by you ahead of time. No student will be allowed to leave the school during school hours without following these procedures. NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO WALK HOME DURING THE SCHOOL DAY. STUDENTS WILL ONLY BE CHECKED OUT TO A LEGAL GUARDIAN OR PERSON DESIGNATED ON THE SCHOOL REGISTRATION FORM.
